Understanding The Stupid Covid Anti-Masking “Battle,” A Short Story

Every non-Republican/non-conservative on social media knows by now that the aggregate left is good at only one thing: getting into yelling matches with other leftists. I hope this little anecdote might save people a little time: Not every leftist is an actual leftist, that is to say, a non-anti-humanitarian.

One of the self-imposed tasks of my last book during its research phase required my getting to know every sort of “online leftist” on Twitter on a non-superficial level. I learned a new thing yesterday that I’d only suspected, but now it’s hard-coded in how I’ll be viewing people going forward.

I was getting along just fine with one rather feisty lady on Twitter for the last three years. We didn’t always see eye to eye but remained friendly, boosting each other’s tweets and such. Yesterday morning I tweeted something about covid, that people who 100% know they’re contagious but don’t use those stupid-looking N95 masks when they’re out and about in public are assholes, pure and simple, uncensored. You see, I got covid the other week and was not a happy camper about it, hence my newfound attitude.

She freaked the fuck out at me in a tweet, making veiled noises about unfollowing me. “Masks DO NOT work,” she raged. “There’s research!” [arms crossed emoji]

I says very calmly, “Why do you think that? What research?”

She goes, “Go look! You write books, do research!”
