Sorry James Carville, You’re Not Relevant in the Luigi Era

3 min readApr 18, 2025

According to an April 17th Instagram post from (apparently) pragmatic pan-leftist account RogueDNC, well-known Democratic “strategist”/perpetual center-left jobber James Carville “has openly criticized David Hogg, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) Vice Chair, over Hogg’s initiative to financially support primary challenges against incumbent Democratic lawmakers that do very little to fight Republicans.”

Carville has always been a distractive cuckold clown, unintentionally (or not; for all we know his infinitely vincible off-off-Broadway act is and always has been a DNC/CIA psyop perpetrated by the Milton Friedman cult that operates the United States) making a mockery of working class anger by losing every public debate he ever undertakes, particularly when his opponent is his right-wing wife, Mary Matalin, a gorgonesque bullshit-spouter who, shortly after Trump destroyed the Republican Party in the 2016 election, po-facedly attested that the GOP establishment would rally behind perpetual heel Ted Cruz (the lady does seem to have a loser fetish).

Observing the now-constant flood of shit like this, including on Instagram of all places, tells me that the dam has burst, that people in the 90% -or-so economic majority have officially had it with both sides of the duopoly and finally feel safe to fire their vitriol in all directions. Normie-centric social media, including Facebook, is no longer a trite ideological wasteland where vastly outnumbered “radicals” who criticize the system are instantly drowned out by a politically asleep majority yelling about beginner-level Captain Obvious crap like Trump’s latest Whatever. No, nowadays everybody’s pissed.

And suddenly they’re feeling empowered enough to show it: Whatever his motivations, Luigi Mangione removed the cap from the quaking gusher of middle class outrage that’s kept itself at bay since the 1970s. I have my doubts that Hogg and AOC and all those other guys will actually “leave” the Democratic Party, but we’ll see.

Of course, the other possibility is that the DNC is, as they always do, keeping their eyes glued to what Gallup, the oracle of American mediocrity, is telling them, and it’s inspired them to at least whiteboard a moronically overdue rebrand. If so, they certainly wouldn’t hesitate to throw dead weight like Carville off the poop deck while they looked for a similarly weak but leftist-ish punching bag to make the mainstream media rounds for the sole purpose of getting regularly trounced by venal neoliberal economists and such in an unwatchable succession of unfair fights.

A move like that, though, would be a waste of everyone’s time, especially the DNC’s. What we really need, of course, is to get money out of politics (starting with rolling back Citizens United and its precedents) so that at least our two dysfunctional sociopolitical hemispheres (the irretrievably schizoid left, comprising socialists and liberals; and equally unworkable right [Libertarians and Christian fundamentalists]) could finally split into four cohorts and vote their true consciences for a cycle or two.

Either way, a “workers’ party” is eventually, just you wait, going to emerge from the smoking crater of the left, half-assedly supported by its hopelessly splintered social media presence, but if people like Carville have any presence in it, it won’t get any non-bot traction at all, and if it spends too much time talking about Trump and “ignorant voters” and such, it won’t attract anyone from the right. I’ll wait for the viable, bug-tested version.

My second book, My Year In The Online Left, is out. Meantime, if you want to be fully, genuinely informed about the political troll/bot invasion of Election 2016, 2020, and Elections-Yet-To-Come, buy my previous book. There’s the tiniest bit of technical stuff in those books, but you’ll get it, I promise. My Twitter is @esaeger, my Mastodon is @esaeger@universeodon.com (I’m spending a lot more time there now), my BlueSky is @esaeger.bsky.social (ditto) and my cursed Facebook is eric.saeger.9 (I do visit it daily).
